Lecture on “The Development and Prospects of Higher Education in UK” by Robert Carthy, Director of International Office, Northumbria University, kicked off in Chongqing Jiaotong University on October 21th. This lecture aimed to continually increase cooperation with foreign high-level institutions, improve the quality of training creative talents with an international perspective, and inspire a new momentum in the creation of new quality productivity.
Carthy has been at Northumbria University for 21 years and has a comprehensive understanding of the UK higher education system. He shared his views from three aspects: history, current situation and future. Following that, he provided a full introduction to Northumbria University, covering a wide range of aspects from the history, campus, professional development to the layout of the university.
This lecture not only increased teachers’ and students’ understanding of British higher education, inspired them to consider education in China and the United Kingdom, and motivated the majority of students to actively participate in international exchange activities and strive to improve their international vision.
